98 INTRIGUE - MAF SENSOR

Hey guys, I have a quick question. I have a 98 Intrigue, 3.8L v6 N/A. I have been having problems with my check engine light lately. It has been continuously coming on and everytime I take it in to get it checked the code says that the system is running too lean. It also says that the car is reading a unusually high barometric pressure. So after looking around etc we noticed my MAP sensor was giving sum false readings so we replaced it. Long story short the light came back on and now I have noticed my MAF (Mass air flow) sensor is cracked. I asked the shop and they said that could be the reason for the code. The sensor is a pretty penny and I just really wanted to make sure that could very well be the problem before i go spending that kind of money.

It's possible that it could be, yes. Especially if it is causing a vacuum leak and allow air in that is not metered by the MAF. As a test, you may want to get one from a junkyard, or PM BillBoost37 to see if he may have one that will fit your car.
