Default 96 Ciera - Transmission Side Panel Access 4T60e

Need Advice: Dropping Subframe on ‘96 Oldsmobile Ciera for Transmission Side Panel Access

Hey everyone,

I’m working on my 1996 Oldsmobile Ciera and need some advice. I know I have to drop the subframe to access the transmission side panel, but I’m unsure if I also need to lower the entire engine and transmission or if just dropping the subframe will be enough.

The reason I’m removing the panel is to replace the solenoids and do a visual inspection. Has anyone tackled this before? Any tips or things to watch out for would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Should be able to get the side pan off with no subframe there.

Be sure to support the engine and transaxle from above while you are doing this!

Unable to clear the bottom right corner from subframe
Unable to clear the bottom right corner from subframe
dropped the subframe on driver side.??? Seems I may have drop subframe separate from engine to clear the bottom right side????
Any advice if that is true and if so do I need to remove all engine mounts or just driver side???
OR is there a certain way to manipulate the cover to remove it ......
Any advice is really appreciated 👍

Yes, you will have to remove the subframe and leave the engine in place.

Be sure to support the engine and transaxle from above while you are doing this!
