Default 96 ciera no kickdown

96 ciera no kickdown. 3.1 4t60e. No tv cable. No dtcs. Trans works fine. Other than no passing gear. Checked trans connector all good .Checked all grounds, nothing abnormal all clean and tight. All parameters normal on scan tool. Just stopped. Working. Manually works fine. Any idea guys.

Define "no passing gear"?

At what speeds are you trying to get it to kick down?

Just a guess, since I don't have one myself...
The throttle position sensor is probably the main input to tell the trans control module you want to pass someone. Maybe somehow that signal is getting to the engine part of the computer, but not to the trans control part?
IDK if that car has a separate Trans module or if it'* part of the PCM.
You'd think that if a solenoid has gone out that it would throw a code...

Sorry I don't have much experience with your car, just trying to help - come up with possibilities.

Good Luck!

No, it doesn't have a TCM. All trans functions is controlled via the PCM. But, he may be on to something with the TPS being out of whack or not installed correctly.
