95' olds 88 won't connect to obd scsnner

I have a 1995 Oldsmobile 88. The engine light keeps coming on and drives horrible. While pushing gas engine revs but does very little like it's fighting itself. I went to part store to read and clear code. The scanner won't connect gets a data link error or something close to that. Two more part stores two more scanners with same issue won't connect. The fourth scanner is a blue point scanner (600 plus dollars) same issue. I do know that this is a cross over year from the obd1 to the obd2. Making this the "obd1.5" I would like to know if anyone knows of a scanner (make and model) that will work for my olds

Yes, there are scanners that are capable of scanning this car. I currently own an Actron CP9145 that works great on the OBD 1.5 systems. It is a combination OBD 1 and OBD 2 scanner.

There are other scanners that work too. Take a close look at the combination OBD 1 and OBD 2 scanners to see if they specifically list compatibility with these systems. If so, it should be good.

Thanks for the response. The scanner you are suggesting is not available for purchase least not that I've been able to find. Any other ideas?
