92 olds 88 won't crank after small engine fire

Guys I had a small electrical fire in the engine comartment and the engine harness had to be repaired. I changed the sensors, and spliced wires where needed. The car has been sitting for 2 months, but it won't crank. I have 12 volts across the battery so I didn't try jumping.

I'll start by looking for 12 v at the solenoid, any other places to probe, things to check?

The fire could have damaged the starter, or you might have a problem with how the harness was repaired. Checking for voltage at the solenoid is the best starting point. Check your grounds as well.

Okay I'll check voltage at the solenoid. Fire wasn't that bad and I didn't see any signs of heat near the starter. Guess I have to jack it up and get underneath and stop being lazy.

Step #1 is definitely get underneath and stop being lazy.

Looks like I'm in for some fun! No 12 volts at the solenoid with the ignition switch in the start position. The purple goes back to a neutral safety switch/gear selector then may exit the switch with a yellow wire. I haven't pulled back the outer sheathing to see.

Guess I need a wire diagram. I'll start looking on google. If anyone knows of one online, post a link. Any other obvious checks would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Thanks! I found them. Looks like it changes to yellow coming out of the neutral safety switch then goes to the ignition switch. The only thing is the ignition switch is only a block diagram and doesn't show the contact closures or inputs. Guess I can Google the switch and see if I can find a diagram for it.

Got her running! Ended being a fuse near the passenger kick panel.
