Default ISO: Top Tether Anchor Package

Hi there,

My husband just acquired a 1999 Intrigue (great deal as the car is in amazing shape, very well maintained, runs great) as his car blew a head gasket and is sitting dead in our garage.

We need to install a child car-seat into the Intrigue.

GM used to provide a tether anchor package and install one anchor free of charge. Unfortunately, this part has been discontinued and is no longer available to order through the dealership parts department.

Does anyone know if it'* still possible to get our hands on an anchor? And if so, from where?

Thank you kindly.

M

I've seen a few references to this kit no longer available. Why? Who knows. Probably due to costs. It'* actually cheaper to install them during the build process than it is to sell them as kits.

I figure not very many people drive cars pre-2002 when the tethers and LATCH became mandatory. And those who didn't have them in their older vehicles likely had them installed around that time. I assume there aren't very many people who buy a 15-year-old car these days... LOL

I was just hoping there might be some sort of "discontinued parts" warehouse or something along those lines. Or maybe someone got the kit but never got around to installing it.

Sorry, I've never seen any mention of them before.

That'* unfortunate.

Is it possible that there are any "generic" (non-OEM) anchors that could be bolted in? Though probably not, as it'* a safety/liability issue.

Thank you all for replying.

If you can find a generic one then it should be possible, I found a guide that is supposed to help install a generic one, not sure how helpful it is as I have not read it all, it looks helpful though.
