2004 Oldsmobile Silhouette Sometime Will Not Start
Once in a while Olds will not start.
Good battery (loud honk on 0.2 sec of the video). If it is running - runs great! This is 3rd or 4th time in last 6 month the car simply will not start. Somtime starts in 10 or so minutes. Security light is not coming up. I am using a key to enter/lock the car. Not the remote. Trying to start cluster lights, radio, AC goes down then comes back as the key is back to "on". Today I filmed the process. Presented on YouTube is very end of it. I noticed, first Switching gears will not active /deactivate door locks, second time (0.47) switching gears you can hear door locks clicking and the car starts. https://youtu.be/kM8FlJ6c_Pg Thank you! thx |
Once in a while Oldsmobile Silhouette Premier will not start.
Good battery (loud honk on 0.2 sec of the video). If it is running - runs great! This is 3rd or 4th time in last 6 month the car simply will not start. It would start later after some unfounded and un-explainable manipulations and prayers ... When it will not start, the "Security" message is not coming up. I am using a key to enter/lock the car. Not the remote. Trying to start cluster lights, radio, AC goes down then comes back as the key is back to "on". Today I filmed the process. Presented on YouTube is very end of it. I noticed, first Switching gears will not active /deactivate door locks, second time (0.47) switching gears you can hear door locks clicking and the car starts. https://youtu.be/kM8FlJ6c_Pg Kindly suggest Thank you! thx |
Based on the symptoms you have provided, its pointing to your gear selector switch.

ACDELCO Part # 24236104 I found this part on rockauto. Also, a very quick fix to it, (until the part comes, surely!) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSE0fOrujW0 Will it work? trch |
Yes that will work.

I can't remember the year they started doing it, but they put the P/N switch inside the tranny....why in the world did they do that? It was an easy replacement, now you have to remove the side cover....
