2004 Olds Alero, metallic spinning noise. any help?
 

I have a 2004 Oldsmobile Alero, 160k Miles. I have been hearing a spinning/squealing type of noise when the car is in motion. I have just recently gotten all new brakes including pads, rotors, and calipers. I did hear the noise before and after the brakes were replaced. The noise is constant and soon as the car starts to move, it’s not extremely loud, unless it has something to echo off the surface of. Sometimes it squeals a little louder when applying brakes, but it will also spin and make the noise when coasting. I have read these cars have a lot of issues with wheel bearings, but it’s not really a grinding or vibrating sound. And it doesn’t seem any worse or better when turning left or right. It’s just a constant spinning noise; a good way to describe the sound is that it is similar to a salt shaker, the fast I go, the faster the “salt shaker” type of noise goes. Here’s a link to a YouTube video I recorded of the sound, if you wear headphones and try to block out the road noise, you can definitely hear the spinning noise.

The sound is really hard to hear in the video.
I'd want to get in on a lift and with someone inside and in gear, get those front wheels spinning around 1500 rpm and see if you can hear anything, to assist in pinpointing the noise location.
Using an auto stethoscope, on the back plate of wheel bearing, I could clearly hear that my passenger side was way noisy, and initially I thought it was the drivers side, it was that hard to tell.
Could be a noisy CV shaft, but hopefully a lift and inspection nets you the answer.

If the noise was not there before the brake job, check to see if the backing plate/dust shield was bent and is touching the rotating rotor....

Did you do the work or a garage?

If a garage, didn't they hear it on a road test?
