2000 bravada lost cruise control
Hey, just trying to figure out what I did wrong here. I replaced the ignition switch in my bravada and it had an old non working auto start attached to it. Most of the wiring was spliced from the auto start to the old ignition switch so it was easy to just remove the whole thing. Had one wire that went through the firewall to a sensor on the engine so I just removed the splice and covered the bare spot on the original wiring. Did that for all the wires that were spliced in other spots not on the old ignition switch. Got it all removed and a new switch put in and now my cruise control does not work. Doesn't even turn on. I have no idea what I missed or did wrong here. If anyone can give me some guidance as how to troubleshoot this, please let me know. I drive long distances and my ankle can't take much more abuse lol.

Recheck your steering column wiring for pinches/breaks.

Check if your brake lights still work.
If they don't, could be something got messed up on the brake switch and/or related wiring, and now you know for sure where to look. If they do, it could still be something got messed up on the brake switch and/or related wiring, but you don't know for sure what. You were messing around down there so it seems likely. I believe this generation checks for the brakes to have been activated at least once (press brake pedal to shift into gear) in order to enable the cruise control system. |
