1994 Silhouette power sliding door

The power slider quit working. The electrical shop said the motor module seems to overload under strain and shut off. The strain comes from the motor working too hard. Perhaps the tracks/cables need to be lubed or adjusted? They didn't try to fix it though. Thought it was too complicated.
So I went to a dealer service department and they said a new motor is nearly extinct, but there is one in Alabama for $1500. Umm, no thanks.
Is it possible to get this thing going again, and if not, could I just release it from the motor drive and make it a simple manual?
This is my first post, so thanks in advance for your help. Also, let me know if I made any posting/threading mistakes for future reference.
Thanks!
Mike

1st, a confession. I had no idea they even had a power sliding door option in 1994.

With that being said, it sounds like you will likely be a pioneer in this territory. You may wish to seek out the Factory Service Manuals to aid with getting everything back on track. The only other option is to open everything up, and see how it works.

Minivans are few and far between here, especially ones with 20 year old power sliding door.

Any pictures you can share would be appreciated.
