I did mine like attached pic but rattle like they are loose

used impact too

I finally got them tight....no more rattle from strut working up and down

re lubed the threads and hammered with impact

update.. Rattle was from sensen struts, some kind of defect inside strut valve body .. made a rattle as if strut was loose... replaced struts with Monroe... problem solved

I had the same problem with Autozone struts. I replaced them with NOS GM units though. The fronts are fine, and not every Autozone strut does it.
