1992 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Coupe Driver Side Door Issues

Working on a Co-Workers sons vehicle and his 92 Cutlass will Open on the Drivers side from Inside, however, will not open from the Outside, I am including a Video this way you can see that the Mechanism is moving on both the outside and inside, but only works on the outside, any ideas?

i cant see by the vid but those outer handle assemby are failure prone, i had a cs and a gp and my dad had a lumi coupe i bet i did 6-8 of those. it helps if the hinges are good too when they are bad it takes more effort to open the door and fails faster. no used ones available im sure, you have to find some aftermarket ones.

Is that the only option? This kid is about as broke as a 10 year old, from what I understand form the Local Junkyard I can get a Complete door for about 50-60 bucks, would it be worth it for this kid? this is only the beginning of what is surely going to be a project car, since it's gonna need a full rebuild in the not so far off future.

I would pull the door trim panel off and look at the latch mechanism to see if anything is broken, or just stuck. The inside release handle attaches to the latch through a rod, but the outside handle is usually directly connected. If you don't see anything obvious, pull the mechanism. Usually only a matter of 3 screws in the door shut face holding it in place.

If you don't find anything broken or disconnected, spray the $hit out of the latch mechanism with WD-40 or something similar while working everything that moves in order to get penetration into the mechanism. If something is broken, see what you can find at the local JY.

I already replaced the Outer Door Handle and Mechanism, if I am correct (which I might not be), isn't there a 2nd part to the "Latch/Mechanism" inside the door? behind the Steel/Alluminum covering that makes the door open from the Inside and outside, but in this case it just won't open from the outside.

The Handle tends to break on these cars way too much. I have a GP and CS and they do break not uncommon.

So the door is kinda like a money Pit then? lol
