Default DIC Outdoor Temperature Flashing

I just replaced the DIC in my wife'* 99' Silhouette. It was from local salvage yard. It does seem to be functioning, however, I don't remember the previous one ever having the Outside temperature flashing. Any ideas what would cause the outside temperature reading to flash on and off?

Thanks,

Steve

Forgot to mention that the outdoor temp seems accurate. It was 54 deg when i installed and it has been started way more than the 50 times that I keep seeing references to it aobut relearning.

Anyone have any ideas on this? I've searched the web up and down and can find nothing.

Have a look here and see if anything in this thread might help...

I remember coming across this thread you've provided a shortcut to, however, it talks of heat malfunctioning. I don't know of ever having any issues with the heat in this van. At the end of the thread it talks of the sensor possibly being bad, but doesn't go into that subject any further. I'm wondering what the chances are of my senser being the issue since I have heat that seems to work ok.

Yes, they do talk about the heat in the beginning, but at the end one person disconnected the temp sensor at the front of the vechicle. At this point in time, anything is worth trying. Just disconnect it and see what happens.

I guess I should have mentioned that I had already tried the disconnect trick, but that did not fix anything. I was hoping someone who might of had this problem before might come out and say it was the symptoms of a bad ambient temp sensor, but I've not found anything specific on those symptoms. Thanks.
