Default 1992 Olds 88 Speedo not working

Hello everyone!
Last night, I got back from vacation and went to drive my 92' Olds 88 home and the speedometer pegged itself past the 110 mph mark and is now stuck there. Cruise doesn't work and I changed the VSS vehicle speed sensor) with no luck. Fuses are good and connections in back of the speeo seem to be clean. Could it be that the instruement cluster decided to take a dump on me? Ideas?
Randy

Does the transmission shift through all the gears and into lockup ok?

Check engine light?

I started driving it after changing the sensor and whala. It was the VSS afterall. Sorry for the confusion. I was expecting the speedo to go back to 0 mph once the ignition turned on but it took actually driving the car for it to begin to work again. Go figure! (Rookie mistake!) LOL
