** NOW w/PICS ** Are any special tools required ...
I realize I need a torque wrench that will do in-lbs or equivalent.
What about other special tools? Anything for the throlle body or injectors? My crappy manual just says remove this, remove that... Thansk All! Tim 96 Olds 98 Regency Elite. 3.8L Vin K 140,000 miles on a december 95 UIM  PICS ARE ON MY LAST POST THANKS ! |
Nothing special needed, mostly a 10mm socket if memory serves. Though with the manifolds off I would get alot of TB cleaner and go to town.

Yes there is. You MUST have a torque wrench. Torque specs are posted in Techinfo.
|
an inch-pound torque wrench, at that.

Thanks Sandrock!
I just wanted to make sure I have everything I need for this weekend. I hate starting something and then 10 minutes into it you realize you need something and have to go get it....hehehe. Unfortunately Bob Dillan is out of UIM's, so I'll be going for the Dorman probably :( Unless someone says the newest Delphi is better and worth the extra cost. Plans: 10hrs (I'm slow and take alot of pics and notes) Upper - Dorman & included gasket. Lower Gasket - GM Aluminum framed. replace serp. belt., deep clean injectors & replace o-rings, and valve cover gaskets (leaking). Can anyone think of anything else while I'm in there? I thought I read something about an updated lower intake? |
There is no updated LIM.
You need ft/lbs for the LIM, in/lbs for the upper. Beg, borrow, or steal these wrenches. They're a big must. |
PCV valve, since you'll have to remove the MAP sensor to transfer it to the other intake, and the PCV is right there. Of course, that is if it wasn't changed recently anyway.

Getting the injectors back in is a lot easier if you use a little trans gel or vaseline.
|
I was going to use a light coat of bearing grease, but that gives me an excuse to buy vaseline... See wife run. Run wife run. LOL
