Price of gasoline
In Ames, Iowa today, gasoline is at $2.23/gallon for 89 octane ethanol (10% ethanol), regular unleaded is $2.28 and premium is $2.49.
We have now been properly conditioned to think that these prices are low! Still, if we complain about what causes the increases, should we wonder why prices are now falling?
I remember at the beginning of this summer, so-called "experts" on TV predicting that gas would be at least $4/gallon by labor day.
Nonetheless, I will not be rushing out to buy a Hummer.

End of summer driving season
No industry regulation
Less then expected Atlantic hurricane damage
Middle East cease fire (Lebanon/Israel)
New oil well found in Gulf of Mexico
Record 2nd quarter profit in the oil industry
Less then expect negative impact on damaged oil line in Alaska
Price are not low, but we are now succesfully conditioned to accept these "new low prices"
Hooray

2.11 here in Ponca City OK. Everything JimW mentioned, PLUS I feel that more people are driving more economy cars and leaving the big SUV/* trucks more idle than they used to. I have not driven my Silverado in almost a year, I start it once in awhile and move it to mow, thats about it.
