Default Saving Powerpoint presentation as a single file

So you're supposed to be able to save a Powerpoint slideshow as a single file in *.mht or *.mhtml format, but I can't get it to work right. I have a photo slideshow put together with music and videos, but I need a way to save it as a single file (or as a neat folder package) so I can send it to friends and family. Every time I try to save it as a single file, the slideshow works but doesn't play the music files or videos. Anyone have some tips? It'* Powerpoint 2003, by the way.

Default is .ppt, but you can save it as an .htm file to view in a web browser. You can save slides individually as a TIFFs, JPGs, PNGs, or save as a Powerpoint show, design template, etc, etc.

I don't know if the .htm is supposed to save the music and videos, because you're viewing it in a web browser and there'* nothing to play the audio. :?

Maybe you could save it as a .pps? Do the people you are sending it to have Powerpoint?

Yes, they have Powerpoint, but even saved as a .pps I don't think the necessary video and music files are saved in tandem with the presentation. There has to be some way to do this... I'm just not familiar enough with Powerpoint to know how :?

I don't have an example of a file with music/videos, but I have an example of a slideshow with animations that I just saved as a .pps, and they carry over on the .pps file. Wish I could help more!

From what I recall, the images become embedded as a part of the .ppt file, but any music is not. Perhaps a .wav file or .mid file could be, but definitely an mp3 file cannot.

I got my cert in PowerPoint a little over a year ago. They didn't teach that, but I am pretty sure I still have my book. I'll see if I can dig it out and see if it is in there.

Any other suggestions are more than welcome! I would like to get this slideshow into a form where I can post it here on BC to show you all my airplane trip from Rhode Island to Phoenix.

Out of curiosity, is there a program that could record a .mpeg or .avi of the slideshow while it'* playing? Then I could post it as a movie file. I would prefer to post in its original form, but I'm open to options at this point.

Well, I found my book. Only thing I can find is that it says to save it as a presentation for review. :?:
