Are you sure it is the ram ?

Slowing down does not mean the ram needs a boost, most times it is a clogged up hdd from not maintaining it....cleaning / defraginng / clearing internet cache / viruses ,etc...

going to need to know more than just DDR2 to get ram for it. A laptop model number might help, but you also need to know what speed the memory needs to be. PC4200, PC5300 are a couple examples, or the actual speeds of DDR2-533 and DDR2-667 respectively.

Also, are you sure that the laptop can support 2gb (it should). you might also want to check around and look for ways to optimize Vista'* startup. There is probably a lot of unnecessary programs starting that you can remove from the startup. With 1gb, vista really needs to be streamlined, since 2gb is recommended, and even with 3gb, it is slow right out of the package 9as on my mother'* computer.)

yes im sure its the RAM/Memory. when i was playing around with Vista, 2GB of memory made a HUGE difference.

You can get new stuff on Newegg for a good deal now. for like under $100

First you got to find out what type it is... what speed.. PC4200....?

Vista also seems to like a superfast flash drive as a speed booster. I picked up the Corsair GT 2gb from NewEgg rather reasonably. Although in a moving laptop..the internal is probably the better choice.

Alright, one I will bet you have some sort of virus and they come from the factory loaded with worthless installed software that sucks resources..

I would go into control panel and see what is in the ADD / REMOVE programs.

then run A good anti virus ( AVG ) is fee and good program, also download ad aware ( also free at download.com ).

run them and see what they find.

But if you insist on just ram it takes DDR2 533MHZ sodimms

HERE IS WHAT NEWEGG HAS.....

my dell when i first got it took a LONG time around 5+min
Its all the Junk they have on it form the factory and Vista make it just 10X worse.

Also VISTA does need 2GB of memory to run smooth and Flash memory makes it even better.

First thing first like said before, Remove any free software you dont want/need.
Then get rid of what ever virus scan and spyware scan that came with the PC.
and Get AVG, it takes up a LOT les resources then any other virus scan that comes on PCs or you pay for.

Quick Reply: does anyone have a 2 gb ddr2 they want to get rid of.?
