Default Installing a supercharger on a Ford 5.4 24V engine

Well since I cant do anything to my GXP how about my F150. It has the 300 HP 5.4 24V Sohc engine in it. Is a supercharger kit something I can install myself or a shop needs to do it. I see kits going for $4700 to 5500 for a roush kit. Anyone ever done this before?

Thanks

I have the cash in hand but not the knowledge in head.

Wow, you're so lucky. I have never done one but I know from what I've seen, I would personally avoid the ones where you have to tap the oil pan for a fitting to lubricate the supercharger. I would try to find a sealed supercharger (kinda like our superchargers).

But godspeed on your project

And how about torque? This 5.4, is it a 3 valve per cylinder V8?

I have driven the new Ford trucks and was not impressed. I'd say buy a 2003 Mercury Marauder and supercharge that.

Well figure on this. The Lightning F-150 in 2004 made 380 hp and 450 lb/ft of torque at 8 lbs of boost. That was with 2 valves per cylinder. Now take the same bore and stroke, add another valve to the intake side, a more efficient chamber design, and better runners....

I envy you for the ability to fit the 3v heads on your block and in your engine bay....
