Default 93 supercharged 3.8 into a 1990 *-10 blazer?

I have a friend who was always joking about how cool it would be to have my sc'd motor in his *-10. when I get my parts car probably next week I will have an extra 1993 supercharged motor and all the wiring and goodies to go with it.

my question is (hypothetically) if we really wanted to pursue this, is there even a transmission made for these motors for rear drive??? I am thinking the old buick grand national transmission, but not quite sure if they are the buick 3.8, or, if it is the buick 3.8 if it even has the same bellhousing pattern as the front drive engines.

I have a turbo 350 trans that I bought (but never used) for my late 60s olds 350 rocket. the trans has the multi pattern bellhousing on it, would this trans bolt up??

most likely not a chance in hell of actually pursuing this idea, kind of a bench racing thing, but just curious anyway.

of course I know that there would be alot of fabrication and electrical problems, but I am not even worried about that at this point, as I said, this is mainly just to see if it is even reasonably possible.

any input or ideas would be great

Sure it'll work. With enough time and money you can get anything to work. I'm not sure if a T350 will bolt to a 3800, you have have to get a special bellhousing made and maybe machine the crank for a different sized pilot bearing.

There was some dood that put a f body 3800 and trans in a *-10 truck. So, yeah it could be possible. You would have to fab the mounts headers and such though.

ok, so is the f body 3800 the same bellhousing as the 1993 supercharged 3800? If so, does anyone know if the tailshafts are removable on those transmissions? would need to mount up to a transfer case.

also, does anyone know if the supercharged 3.8 has more horsepower or torque then the stock 4.3 v6??

who knows, if this seems relatively feasible, I might just convince him to do it, we know a friend who has done some oddball swaps: 1977 porsche 977, original 4 banger. swapped in a 4.3 from a monte carlo, th 350 trans from a 1982 camaro, and rear axle from a chevette!!! that thing goes like hell so, this would be just another "project" if there was anything to gain (horsepower, torque)

If you wanted to do a project like that, I would go with the S2 motor. Reason? Because the S2 was designed to work in both fwd and rwd formats. Though possible with the S1, it will require more fabrication on your part to make it work.

As said earlier, the F-body 3800 is your best bet for part sourcing. BUT, if you really needed to use the S1, I am sure the Aussies have parts for you to use.

EDIT: Follow the S2 buildup that Curt Martin did. He took a standard S2 and made it supercharged. You could sell off all your S1 parts, get a standard S2 block to start with

Yes. The TBI 4.3 only makes 160hp, but makes around 250 ft/lbs tq. The L67 makes far more power - 205hp, 260tq for 92/93, and 225hp, and 275tq for the 94/95.

my only reason for the series 1, is that I will have a whole complete running engine with all the wiring and computer stuff when I get the parts car. I don't think that the fabwork would bother us, just looking mainly for a trans that will work with not only the engine, but also the NP 231 transfer cases used on these 4x4 *-10 blazers.

well, put it this way, the 3.8L in the camaro bolts to the 5 spd or auto. The bolt pattern on the L67 S1 or S2 is the same, so conceivable, the F-body tranny should bolt up to the S1 motor.

Like others stated, you'd then need the mounts.

I believe it was 98+ for the V6 F-body
