Window tinting?
 

I have got 6 rolls of tint and I was wondering if I can do it by myself. Have anyone ever done it? If yes what is the right way to do it? And what kind of tools or special gels will i need?

You can do it yourself, but it requires a lot of patience. All you need is a spray bottle of soapy water (very little soap), a rasor type knife, and the little squeegee thingee they usually come with. And a lot of patience.

The easiest way to do the doors is pull the panels so you can run the tint below them. Rear windows are a PITA. If you can remove all the trim and stuff, do it. If not, just take your time and be patient with it.

Oh, and did I mention, you'll need lots of patience? :lol:

oh well i guess that would be a long project, cz my patience doesn't last for too long.

I did mine my self, If there is ANY advice i can give.........Please remove the door panels and take the windows OUT of the car.

this will save you alot of aggravation

MOS hit the nail right on the head. Patience.

You can cut the pieces generally to size on the outside on the glass with the tint film towards the glass. Spray the soapy water liberally and apply the film. It will cling to the glass but is still moveable. Trim to size. Clean the hell out of the inside glass with the soapy water and squeegee, spray liberally on inside glass, remove protective layer, apply and position.

Squeegee the solution out begining at the top to prevent it from moving, about an inch and a half. Then squeege downward to remove the rest of the solution from between the glass and tint. The last time I did this, I found it necessary to also spray the film lightly as I was squeegeeing to prevent it from chattering (like a bad windshield wiper).

Are the profesionals do it the same way us (the simple people) do? Or the they have any special equipment and such?

Instead of taking the windows out, you could put the film on the outside of the window, cut it to shape (using soap of course so it wont stick) then go on the inside of the car and apply it that way....

I sitill think its easier to apply the tine while the window is taken off, the qeustion is it hard to take it out and put back in?

I dont know exactly, not an easy job though. Once the film is applied, arent you supposed to wait a day or two before you put pressure on it or get it wet, or roll the windows down..or bubbles could easily form on your windows I think
