Default my wife is in the hospital.update and now my daughter also

i had to wake up early today to drive her to work because she is sick and her asthma was acting up and she could not make it to work on her own but insisted on going after i asked her to stay home a million times.. so i brought her and went back home and at 11:30 am when i was dropping my daughter off at school i got a phone call fromn my wifes coworker (a good friend) that my wife needed me to pick her up and take her home to use her nebulizer (asthma treatment) and when we got home 15 minutes later i could hear her weazing very bad so i asked her to let me take her to the emergency room and she said no she cant miss more then 2 day of school or she will be automaticaly failed. ( she has'nt missed a day yet in 5 years) so i tell her ok fine ill take you to school at 5 pm.. it was only 12 noon. so by the time i had to bring her to school i noticed she was 100 times worse and her asthma pump was not working nor was the oxygen tank i keep on stand ny for an emegency when the ambulance takes too long.

so i told her to get her book bag ready and i drove her straight to the emergency room with out her knowing and i told her to go insde and if they say you are fine then ill take you to school.. so she got out the car before i did and took 1 step and almost fell, she had to grab the car door so i jumped out and helped her sit back in the car. then i grabbed the kids and helped her inside and they said im lucky i broght her in when i did as her lungs were closing up lil by lil and she must have felt like she was breathing thru a coffee straw so they gave her a shot of prednisone ( lung steriods) and siad lets wait 15 minutes. well that did not work so they hooked her up to the oxygen and they asked me to take the kids home as they had to run a heart and lung test as well as some others and take some blood. so i went home and went back 2 hours later and they said she is doing the same and breathing very badly. they told me to go back home with the kids and get some rest. (rest who'* tired, im worried about my wife) so she said they have to do some more test and then they will be bringing her to another hospital for asthma apecialist to keep an observation on her untill tomorrow

wow im so worried i dont know what to think.. she had asthma her whole life and i had to wake up several time at 3 in the morning to rush her to the ER but it has NEVER been this bad.,. she almost turned blue in the face.... im very worried.....

Good on you, dude. From the sounds of it, she had got herself into that weird place where you don't realize just how much trouble you're actually in. If you hadn't hauled her to the ER, she probably would have kept going til someone had to call an ambulance.

Default I feel you

I hope they get her fixed up.
I was circling the drain with my lung problems until I got pneumonia in 2004. I finally went to the hospital and fully expected them to put me down like a lame horse. I really thought I was going to die. They put me on oxygen until they could X-ray me and once they saw my X-ray, I was admitted immediately. Ten days and two biopsies later they decided that I have sarcoidosis, the same thing that killed Reggie White.
Since the Twin Towers fell, .the number of confirmed cases of sarcoidosis has risen dramatically. This is something to consider, since you are from the NYC area.

It'* good to hear that she got to the hospital alright. As you are obviously aware, breathing problems are nothing to fool around with. Do you have health benefits that cover ambulance? If she was having breathing problems to the point she needed to go home for nebulized meds, an ambulance may have been a good choice in the absence of her nebulizer at hand.

About a week ago a truck pulled up to our station with a lady in near respiratory arrest. I ended up giving her ipratropium bromide, salbutamol (same as albuterol in the US), epinephrine, magnesium and methylprednisolone (another type of steroid). Regardless of a fairly aggressive treatment regime, I ended up having to intubate her by heavily sedating her, inducing paralysis and inserting an endotracheal (breathing) tube. I can't stress how important it is to keep on top of this. I hope everything is okay with your wife. It sounds like she'* in the right place now

o.k well i went to visit my wife today and see how she is..
she is doing so bad they decided to admit her for a few days or more if needed.
and on top of that i had the doctor hear my daughter weazing also and she asked if she can check my daughter. so i said yes please do.. so she checked my daughter and what do you know. they gave my daugter 2 more asthma treatments on top of the 2 treatments i gave her home before going to visit my wife so while in the hospital they seen my daughter'* breathing was getting as bad as my wife'* so they admitted my daughter to the hospital aswell as my wife..

they asked me if we gotten any new pets or anything that could have set the 2 of them off but i said no we have not...

so the doctors are baffled on what to do next so they will just be keeping them there to keep a better eye on the 2 of them then i could do at home.. so now its just me and my 1 yr old son.. i feel very lonely now.. and im extremley worried on what could be affecting my wife and my daughter at the same time...
