Default 2006 - The BC Year In Review

We've had some very memorable moments here on BC this year and a ton of mini-meets, so I thought it would be cool to have a Year In Review post. Please post your memories here (pics and links are welcome). It can be anything... a funny moment at a meet, acts of kindness between members, the loss of a Bonnie saving another life, or a great day at the track. It can be something you were involved in, or simply something that you followed along on the forum. Whatever your memories are from 2006, post them here.

A crazy year filled with excitement.

March.

Bought my first nice Bonneville. Driverjohn2005 drove several hours to check out a car, since SSEis were not available in Idaho.

July.

My first meet. It was a trip meeting folks that drove thousands of miles to Idaho....Wow. WCBF was easily the best vacation I've had in my life. Hands Down.

Specific Moments from wcbf:

We were in Twin Falls, Heading north on Washington st on the way to COSCO to get fuel before the trip to Oregon the next day. I drove through intersection while Travis and bill and bob were stuck at the light. I pull over just after the intersection, when I hear hands down the most crazy whine I'd heard to date, Travis'* FWI and 3.2....holy **** that noise scared the hell out of me.

Through Idaho, there was a Nissan Altima or something like that and she/he was driving stupidly, I forget if they were speeding excessively or what, but anyway someone had the idea to box them in and slow the interstate to 55mph or so...Wow it was so funny to see the face on the driver.

Meeting everyone was crazy and exciting.

Drag racing was awesome, I never had been to a real drag strip before. Racing down the track and watching others race was fun.

Camping at the KOA was cool, the late night parties and conversations were fun.

Hearing what a 2.0" pulley sounds like was a first and inspiring.

Driving Travis'* car to the parts store easily had me sold on getting a Series II and throwing in rockers. I did not really get to drive it past 60 or so, but I gave it a little gas at 40 and was up to 60 in like one second.

October.

I fell off a cliff while on a hiking/camping trip. I was told I would never walk again and was quite depressed etc. 2.5 months later I'm walking without the help of crutches even thought I'm paralyzed from the knee down, feeling and motionwise. I returned to work on December 27th Full Time.

November

Driverjohn2005 and Willwren organized a fund raiser to help me pay for my medical bills and left foot gas pedal (which may not even be necessary since Bonneville'* gas pedal is so easy to use). The members of BC were able to raise over $1000 to help me out since I was not able to work and had about $3000 worth of medical bills piling up from 2 major surgery'*. At the same time harofreak00 and MyLittleBlackbird raised money as well as accepted donations on transmission parts for Big_News1'* Transmission which was on the way out.

December 8th, 2006
I get rear ended at around 30-40mph when I was at a standstill. Car was not written off but it could have been close. It needs a new bumper.

CANT WAIT TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN IN '07!!!!!! however I'd like to not f*** my body up as much as I did this year lol

Looking back I see one of the most successful years of the club.

Lot'* of new members
Many many great meets attended by more members than we can count
Ton'* of cars fixed for free or low cost
Billions of cars photographed.
Aliens and Candians are imported to Connecticut

There are so many things..there'* one that none of us will ever forget.

I have to say without this club and the members, i really dont know what i would have done....this is an extented FAMILY to me personally....some of my BEST friends that i have are on this club, and they are 100'* of miles away

for me what i remember the most is all the :

1. Staying with Boosty for the summer....without him i couldnt have done an internship, i can never thank him enough, but i keep trying

2. the meets, and the people that i have met and got to see again, and also the new members, that i have met for the first time

3. The the mods that i have done to my car.....without the club,i wouldnt be driving a car that has FE2, ELC, AL7'* and HUD...espically when it didnt come stock

4. My Green SSEi Parts car that i tore apart with BIll.....wow it was a cool experience to totally Strip down a Bonne

5. my New 03 SSEi....it was such a secret when i got it...i really only told a few people. and then went to the CEBF in the old car...

6. All the cars that gave there lives for our members.....we had a bad couple of weeks loosing some Bonnes.....but they gave there lives, and the owners walked away

there are so many things that im leaving out but that is just a sampling what really made my BC year a great one

and alsl there are so many things that take place that involve the club for me its amazing, and the best part is the club KEEPS getting better every year

Thank YOU BC FAMILY
