Default Being scammed am I?

I'm not sure........But I think so!!

I currently have an auction up for one of my LCD Photo Frames and I got an email from an interested party in Canada.

Everything was good up until I got this message from the buyer:

I other words I purchase the LCD for $19.99CDN and pay the remaining balance in shipping and handling. I do not mean to be so devious but Customs has been very abusive with me. Going so far as to levy tarrifs on items I purchased for $5.00. So, I am following advice of fellow eBayers on how to have items shipped without such problems. If this options meets your satisfaction just email me a proper invoice for $19.99CDN plus *&H and I will effect payment immediately upon checking my email.

Thank you and best reagrds,
Peter den Heyer
Do any of the Canadian members have trouble with Customs when making purchases in the U.*. ? I smell BS here........

It'* not BS.. Canadians get HAMMERED with duties and tarrifs on purchases from the US.

I've sent a couple of "gifts" to Canada.

Do your transaction through EBay man...if he wants it, let him click the Buy It Now button on your auction. Check his feedback too.

Yup agreed. Or at least have him give you a call to make sure he is legit. I have got a similar email from someone when I was selling a iMac. The guy said almost the same thing about customs.

Just ask the Canadians...

They'll tell you. I've shipped many items and know that they are heavily levied on taxes/tarriffs/duties.

Yeah, the only way I knew mine was a scam is because the guy spelled his last name wrong 3 times, in 3 different emails.

Thanks for the feedback. I guess this is why i usually never sell or ship anything out of the country. I wouldnt do it if I didnt need to.

I emailed him back saying that unfortunately, I am not willing to alter the auction, and that he will simply have to go through the normal procedure. I hope he doesnt pull his bid because of it.

I have never had to pay any taxes/tarrifs on small things, such as the bonnie club tshirts.

but i did for my flowmaster order
and my guitar videos and cds.

so i dont know the full extend to how it works, but maybe just as long as it says GIFT on the description of the goods and write that it has a low value..
dont know, maybe that helps.

Under a pound is the little white/green form and over a pound is the full blown customs form.

Not that I've got them sitting on my desk or anything
