'93 Mercury Tracer Question
So my friend has this old trecer he got for $750, it was in crappy shape when he got it but i've been helping him get it into good shape. I got to the coolant today, the car always ran extremely hot but within the normal range, now that i changed out the coolant is runs extremely cool, but also still within the normal range. The car didnt come with a manual so I gave it about 60% coolant 40% water. Does anyone know what the mix SHOULD be on a 93 tracer and what i should do (assuming i should do anythig) to get it warmer, or is it just that on the tracer the needle stays at thebottom of normal so you have more time to notice an overheat? i dunno, any info would be appreciated

cat converter is bad, so it runs hot
i have only an after market temp gauge
the tempo uses the 2.3, not the 1.8
and my cooling fan is hotwired
but amongst all of that, it ran about 195-200 before the converter started becoming a real issue.

well theres no actual temp readings on the tracer guage, just cold, "normal", and hot. i was under the impression that cars ran the middle of the guage at normal operating temp, my guess either an aftermarket tstat or none at all or maybe the coolant mix isnt right, which would run warmer 70/30 or 50/50?
