Photos from my NEW lens
I finally got my camera back today and I finally got to test out my Canon 50mm f/1.4 lens. Yes, a f/1.4 lens. It'* incredibly sharp, incredibly fast, and rivals the Canon professional lenses in terms of photo quality.
I am still learning how to use the big apertures, but here are some shots that turned out pretty nice:
These are unprocessed photos-
Minor post-processing-
It'* a great lens for portraits and such. I'm very impressed by it. It makes excellent background blurs.

What a great lens. I've been meaning to get a 50mm prime for a while, but other toys just keep coming up. I notice that your images look a tad soft, probably due to the resizing process and/or JPEG compression. Do you ever apply any USM to your images? My workhorse lens is a Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L. That thing is a champ, but my alltime favorite lens has to be the Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8L IS USM. Not that I own one, but every time I've put one on my camera I've regretted having to take it off.

I also had the pleasure of using a Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS USM last weekend for the Formula SAE competition in (hehe) Pontiac, MI.
The team I belong to, Rutgers Formula Racing
I love this car - University of Texas, Arlington
Sigh, it'* a problem when my camera is worth more than my car.

I really like that lens you have. I wish I could afford it. Those pics you have are amazing.
