I got pulled over yesterday afternoon..not doing anything wrong. The cop comes up and says license registration blah blah and i dont have my new insurance card so he says you need to call the insurance and verify that i have insurance or the car will be towed! So i call and they verify it and hes like well your tints look pretty dark so ill be right back..he comes back with a ticket for the tints 136 ****** dollars and tells me i have to go to the dmv to see if my tints are legal (which they arent) and now i have to take them off.
so pretty much **** the cops

Well, I do dislike tint laws, but they have a purpose. And you were fully aware that yours was not legal, so that should be expected. That is kind of a bs way to get pulled over if you weren't doing anything wrong to your knowledge (or did he pull you over because of your tint then got sidetracked on the insurance?). I can't 100% say I know how you feel, though, because the only time I ever got pulled over was for doing "61 in a 35," and what the cop didn't realize is that I was accelerating at the time, and I actually went up to 70. (Damn superchargers, it was in a 02 SSEi. )

replace the tint with 35% legal tint then go to court and let them tell you its not illegal and that you dont have to pay a fine.. i did this once and it worked because the cop dont shop up atthe hearing so when the judge sees the legal tint y9ou just say the cop was braking your balls because of the insuranse he THOUGHT you did not have.

You were likely pulled over for the tint. You knew the tint wasn't legal. You put it on the car anyway. You also know it'* required for you to carry proof of insurance.
Cop was doing his job.
Doesn't sound like he sucks after all, does it?

If your tint was illegal, than he did have a reason to pull you over.
If its illegal and you knew then you should be willing to accept the consequences of the tint.
I personally don't like the tint laws either. But i know if i put tint on my windows i'm taking that risk of getting a ticket.
The cop did nothing wrong. If he wanted he probably could have given you a ticket for not having proof of insurance on you.

Sorry, but I'm with the few guys above me. You broke the law and you knew you were doing it. No proof of insurance is a ticket in itself. Consider that cop wonderful for letting it slide.

I don't know about other states, but in Michigan, tint is only a secondary infraction meaning that you CANNOT be pulled over for just that. If they are already pulling you over for something else, they can write you a ticket for the tint.

Having been a cop, I like the tint laws. it looks cool to civilians (even me) but it'* not a good feeling walking up to a vehicle and not being able to see what'* going on inside.
And, before someone brings up vehicles like panel vans with no windows, anyone hiding in them can't see out either, so it'* "fair". But with tinted windows, they can see you approaching, but you can't see what they're up to.
