brake upgrades on the way!
well since i botched up the ordering of my high flow cat, im taking the money i had set aside for the installation and im getting some better brakes!
some of you may know that the 98 Intrigue had the optional Autobahn package with 12inch rotors....later known as option code JA9.
These rotors and the caliper mounting brackets necessary to run them later became standard issue on several cars.
if you go here Brakes
you can see that the same rotors used on the Intrigue w/ JA9 are used on other cars, and two of them are fellow W-bodies:
1999-2002 Chevy Impala SS
2000-2002 Chevy Monte Carlo
so i contacted a local junk yard(about an hour away) and they have 3 Monte Carlos that fall in that range.
Rotors...$ 20 a piece
Caliper Mounting Brackets and necessary hardware $15 a piece.
Getting both rotors turned $10 and not even necessary
grand total- $80
You can buy a GM Performance Parts kit that does exactly the same thing and does include some higher quality brake pads....but it runs at least 150.
im pretty stoked, and what few W-body owners there are here should definetely consider this.
