What do you would consider before buying a high mileage car?

Here's the car, a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. 4.7 HO engine, with 68,000 miles

Now this car is a year older than what I'm actually looking for and higher miles than I normally buy, but for 13,000 it seems like a good deal for the features it has, Now assuming a car fax turns up clean and all the maintenance records are in order it really doesn't sound too bad to mean.

Usually when I buy a new car I get one with around 30k on the clock, but keep in mind with the 155k my Bonne has and the trucks I've driven with over 500k, 68k doesn't seem like alot to me if things are well maintaned.

Just wondering how other people feel about newer (I say newer because it's only 3 years old) higher mileage cars.

That mileage isn't that bad, and the 4.7 is a very nice engine, especially the 260hp/330tq HO. My Dad's '03 4.7 powered Durango has 50k on it and runs excellent. Plus those have the 545RFE 5 speed auto (4 speed with lockup, but considered a 5 speed) and this makes for excellent highway mileage. 14-15 city, 20 highway.

That's what I was thinking too, glad to hear from someone who has expeirence with that motor, I've only read about them.

I really wouldnt worry about the miles. SUV's and Trucks are normally found with "higher" miles than normal. The Jeeps tend to be very good vehicles, and last a long time. I'd say go for it.

Those miles actually aren't bad, my uncle had 38K on his 05 when he got rid of it a couple months ago. That 4.7 is a blast, too. He had it in his 05 Dakota. We loved that, and he'd still have it if he actually needed a truck.

i wouldn't worry about the miles either. my brother's 2004 Maxima already has 240,000 miles. still runs great and the car looks like it has less than 100,000 inside/out.

holy crap, jump on that deal. ive never seen a decent overland for less than like $15k. you'll love the Jeep, I promise. mileage is pretty similar to the bonne and it has pretty good power as well.

Sounds like a lot of highway miles.

EDIT: Highway miles FTW.
