i saw banners and signs like this at the Vegas Jewellery show this year, and i cant remember the "proper" terminology for it to look it up

any idea?

That's a plexiglass piece with "sti" cut out and lit from the side by led's. Ask a sign company that deals with plexi

I believe it's laser etched from the inside. Turret Lasers are aim in unison within the acrylic. A single beam won't do anything. But when several are pinpointed it burns/etches a design within it.

It's becoming very fine tuned and in the near future will replace alot of delicate surgeries and zap cancer routinely.

Do a google image search for 3D Laser etched signs.

Edge lit signs comes up with a good bit of hits, I don't know if that is the real term for it though.
