what diesel upgrades are available?

what do the people with these alternately fueled vehicles do for performace? do intakes and exhausts? is it even possible to make a fast diesel car?

There's a diesel VW Golf in SCCA Pro-Rally that runs on soy-diesel so there are go-fast bits out there somewhere. :smileR:

Intakes on diesels might not be of benefit. They have no throttles. They just put more fuel in when you push the gas. Around 70% of stoiciometric is all the fuel that is injected into the cylinder, because diesel burns "locally rich," so they are overall lean all the time. Extra air would just create more pumping losses. The best thing to do to a diesel is nitro(oxygen)/methane(fuel) injection and computer reprogram. That will yeild a TON of horsepower.

So why do Turbo-Diesels work so well?

They are programmed for it. Any type airflow mod NEEDS the computer to know about it.
