If it'* something I'm only going to use once or twice, as cheap as possible. However I have split cheap torx sockets in two on the first use.

Just gimmie some duct tape and string, and I'll fix it.

As an ex-Auto Mechanic, my tool box consists mostly of Snap On & Mac Tools!
Yes I could've bought cheaper tools, but I can't afford for them to break regardless of their warranty! Nothing is worse than a tool breaking at the wrong time (like: right in the middle of a big job & all the stores are now closed to get a replacement)! I buy the BEST & expect the BEST performance from them too!

I'm a tradesman too and have lots of diff brands including crafstman and snap on. My favorite wrenches are Armstrong for feel and finnish but like snap on for sockets and ratchets. Klien make the best screwdrivers and pliers and Proto have the best hammers and pry bars.

We've got craftsman around the house, but i can see using snap on tools for more automotive situations. Both!

For the little bit of work I do on my car... my craftsman is good enough for me.
