Never heard of that. HMMM.
Don't know how to get around that, except you can probably find the code online if you search. Smoeone did that for me once for a code for Windows 98.
You can also download a program for free called open office which is compatiable with Windows, Word Perfect and some other products as well.
Here'* a link http://projects.openoffice.org/native-lang.html
I used this all the time when I was in school. I had Word Perfect at home and Word at school. You just have to make sure to save as a word.doc, and it will work perfectly.

was your computer fairly new? if so you'll get office for a limited amount of time. after that you must purchase and activate. If you ever do decide to purchase a copy of office, check with your school to see if they offer discounts to their students. some schools will help out a LOT! Because i'm a CIT student (Computer Information Technology) I get in on the microsoft accademic aliance thing Oakland has. basicly that means a lot of FREE microsoft programs. unfortinuetly word isn't included in that but you may want to see if your school has something similar that you might qualify for.

After I replied I remembered that new computers come with a limited time period for Office. I agree, check with your school. I beleive that there even may be a student edition which is cheaper.
But consider that Open Office, atleast it is free for now.

Open office is nice, but considering he is studying Word, it'* not good enough. A lot of the specific commands are just different enough to probably be a problem.

Good point. I was under the impression that he just needed a word proccessing program to do homework. You are right, if he is studying Word he would definitely need Word. Where I went to school our Word book came with the program that had everything we needed to do all of the exercises. I am not sure if I still have that though, I sold some of my books already.
