Gotta share the good news
I met this girl over 13 years ago while I was still in high school at the job we had at the time (Opryland USA in Nashville), and from the moment we first met, we hit it off rather well. Over time it grew into more than a friendship but not a bf/gf kinda thing, though deep down I wished that it would go beyond that. Then I decide to go in the service since college wasn't working out as planned. That entire time I was in bootcamp, she was my rock. She wrote letters to me, kept me informed of all that was going on back home, even scenting the letters she sent me with either perfume or her vanilla body spray (though I think that was more torturous than anything at that time). After the graduation and A-school training I went to go see her while she was in college, and we had a good time catching up on things. That was the same week Princess Dianna lost her life...that much I remember. That was also the last time I saw her.
Since I left for Guam we communicated via emails. She tells me she found a boyfriend, I tell her I found a girlfriend, later on I get married, as does she. Then after I return from Guam, wifeless of course, I try to track this girl down just to say hi and hope that things were going well for her. The last time I heard from her, she was in Germany with her new husband (who was Air Force BTW) and didn't know when she would be back in the States. That was back in 2000.
Since then, I thought about her almost every day, wishing I could have said more when I had the chance. Though each day I knew that she was happy with her choice, and I was happy for her, deep down I wasn't. So after many years of figuring out where she was, I gave up.
Then along comes MySpace.
One day I thought "Well, maybe she'* here" so I searched...and she was, though not active. So I took a chance anyway and sent her a message just to say "Hi" and that I hope things are going well for her. That was 2 months ago.
I get a message back yesterday. All is well with her, and she was very happy to hear from me. And I am very happy to hear from HER too.
Hmmm....Happy Holidays??
