Need casting number help
Okay, so I'm rebuilding an engine for my mustang. Problem is, I have no clue what year the block is from. It'* from a Merkur Xr4ti. I know half way through 1986 they changed the specs. That'* why I need to figure out what year and possibly what part of the year my block is from. The casting number is:
RF E3ZE-6015-DO
Any help you guys can give me would be much appreciated as I've got the block stripped down and can go no further without knowing what parts to buy.

I went through the same deal with my dad'* 1970 1/2 Camaro Z28 it started off life with a 302 then he had a 350 in there then a bulit 427 now a 350 again and we are trying to figure out the casting numbers on the block and heads just to figure out the specs of the motor at least.

That actually really helped. I now know it was originally designed in 1983. Now I just have to look on the block more and see if they have a date code stamped on it.
