Default crank shaft sensor?

my g/fs car wont start so we took it to a macanic and he said it was the crank shaft sensor. my question is how much should this cost to fix? oh btw it was on a 89 chevy cavilair. he also had to reattach the coil spring. any ideas on how much this should cost to fix and how long it should take to fix? (hours?)
thanks John van veen

On a bonneville, its only a $26 part, so if you can do it yourself its practicaly free. I"m guessing at a dealership you're looking at about 2 hours of shop time. ($70-80 an hour) Maybe Cavaliers are easier and quicker :?

This forum is for Bonneville related issues. I'll move it to the Lounge for you.

Yep, youll probably need an harmonic balancer puller if you do it yourself (if its like the bonneville)

Why is the sensor under the harmonic balancer?
I have never done a crank (or cam) sensor.
