Transformers

Just got back from Transformers and it is one amazing movie!
The special effects were some of the best i have ever seen!
Overall i give the movie a 9 out of 10 (but i have never seen a 10 movie  ). The script could've been better IMO and some of the acting was pretty shiitty.
One thing i did notice that i didn't like was the way GM sneaked there cars into the movie. You couldn't go 5 minutes in the movie with out seeing a GM car/truck stuck in the movie somehow.

If you were debating weather or not to see it in theaters i HIGHLY recommend seeing it on the big screen. It is worth the outrageously high ticket prices.

How many other people saw it tonight??

popatim 07-02-2007 11:09 PM

Its not playing here until after mid-night. I'll be taking the grandson during the day tomorrow. :) I'm glad you liked it, a review I read said the plot sucked but had alot of action to make it bearable at least. Heck, thats all a man needs.. a little action now and then. LOL

tallbump 07-03-2007 07:10 AM

I so have to see that.

MOS95B 07-03-2007 07:34 AM

Me too!!! Not sure when I'll get to, though. Gotta convince The Missus she wants to see it... ;)

Jack 07-03-2007 08:23 AM

Probally take the Jeep up to the Drive in to see it and Die Hard this weekend

Sooo jealous. We don't ahve any drive ins left around here. And, what a combination.

BonnevilleLErocks 07-03-2007 09:14 AM

Yesterday the local news here did a story about all the GM cars in the movie. Did you guys know that GM actually didn't have anything to do with the product placement and they spent no money on this (I'm sure GM provided the vehicles free or charge ;) ). Apparently the director chose to use GM vehicles because they met he's different needs for the different scenes. If he needed a sexy sport car for a chase, GM had it, or a big huge truck, GM had it and so on. So GM is really excited about this, if the Bonneville was still around I'm sure a GXP would have been in the movie

Is this the first time you've noticed product placement in a movie? Espeially cars. They always seem to stick to the same brand, or family of brands, in every movie, or TV series

tallbump 07-03-2007 11:18 AM

Cool to know GM didn't iniate it. I mean, you can't fault a company for advertising, but it's much easier to accept it when they don't force it.

nagel79 07-03-2007 11:47 AM

I saw it on the digital screen at the movie theater and all i can say is WOW. it was like watching a blue ray disk on a huge screen. none of the grainy-ness or distorted sound of a regular movie, although, i really hope it makes it to imax. can't wait for the next one to come out.

EagleKammback 07-03-2007 11:54 AM

Isn't it in iMax too?

Quick hijack here: The Transporter was a big one, they used all GM vehicles and there was even a Bonneville in that one.

Now back on track, I would love to see Transformers, my brother and I grew up with Transformers. Andrew can't wait to see it, he got a nice new cool one for his unbirthday, one of the "good" guys, I am not sure which one mind you. Maybe for WCBF we should all go and keep track of all the GM vehicles we see ;)

PRD2BDF 07-03-2007 02:47 PM

Is it necessary to hear the words or just seeing it without sound is enough? I ask this because my theaters doesnt have subtitles for the deaf.

I watched Pirates of the Carib. 3 and was completely lost in the theater.

PontiacMom 07-03-2007 02:51 PM

From what I am learning about the movie, the script is not the greatest, that the special effects are what make the movie, but then again, I have yet to see the movie.

I wish I could have been there when you saw Pirates, I could have signed for you ;)

popatim 07-03-2007 05:05 PM

The movie was great!

The plots for these movies are never the greatest, at least according to the critics.

I personally believe to be a movie critic, you have the ability to enjoy a movie as just entertainment (instead of some moral packed social commentary) removed. This is one of those movies you go to to toally escape from reality for a couple of hours. Sit back, shut off the brain, shovel popcorn into your pie hole, and enjoy... ;)

popatim 07-03-2007 05:37 PM

I never listen to critics anymore, lordy they gave Lost in Translation 5 stars and it won Emmy's!!! Thats gotta be on of the worst movies EVER!!!

If you like action movies, you'll love this one. <nuf said>

PontiacMom 07-03-2007 06:29 PM

Mos, I 100% agree with you. I do enjoy those movies that make you think and encourage people to think for themselves, but I also enjoy those movies that I can just sit back, relax and not have to pay close attention to.

I feel that some movie critics are just to harsh on a movie, now I know that the Fantastic Four 2 was not the greatest movie ever made, the script was not the best, but you have to take it for what it is, a comic book story. I didn't expect the movie to have Oscar winning performances, it is just supposed to be a family movie, and that is what it was.

Now I have to say that O'Neil and I watched the movie Crank the other night, and that was an AWFUL movie, OMG, it was terrible. I am sorry to those who liked it, I did not.

nagel79 07-03-2007 09:03 PM

its just like everyone of michael bays movies, its a movie not a film. if you don't know the difference films are what critics like, movies are what normal people like.

GonneVille 07-03-2007 09:24 PM

We got back a little bit ago, freaking awesome movie! No plot worth speaking of, but who cares! Prime rocks!! :D

I like :) but it was a 735i (short wheel base) and I believe his was the Euro-only manual transmission.

Actually, what they did was start with the 735i, and then swapped the 12-cylinder in and mated it to the manual. Pretty sweet. Yeah, I've got the "special delivery edition"

Hans 07-03-2007 11:27 PM

getting dragged over to the movie theatre in a few minutes....

I couldn't agree more, that was a BAD movie.
And, I agree with MOS, critics need to just enjoy some movies for the 1 hour and a half or so mind numbing entertainment they were meant to be,

L27Buick 07-04-2007 10:48 AM

the wife and i went and saw it last night. we were very pleased with the movie and the effects were top notch.

Cooey 07-04-2007 10:54 AM

GM's involvement was no accident and neither was their product placement...

Ahh Shadow sweetie, I know he didn't drive a GM, but there is a Bonneville in the movie ;) You really have to watch and pay attention, but it is there.

chadow427 07-06-2007 02:16 AM

Just watched it tonight, fantiastic movie. I'm soooo gonna get a new camaro....that rubber bumper 'maro is looking pretty tempting too. :D

J Wikoff 07-08-2007 11:22 PM

Just saw it and I liked it. Didn't stay for the credits past to little clips with the kid's parents. Were there any cool clips later on?
