I'm not ready for a Toyota to win a cup race yet. Not even with fatty behind the wheel.

He can have a top5, but not the win.

BTW, I have a friend at the race. She'* going to try to get me an autograph or two from someone.......and knows not to even try to come home without it, even if it'* on a used napkin with a mustard stain.

(she has a 3-day garage and pit pass)

Too late
Harvick, Roush concerned with Toyota horsepower

And how long before NASCAR limits Toyota'* hp advantage to keep competition even and fair? Not long, kemosabe. Not long.

Every manufacturer out there COULD make more if NASCAR let them, and something is slipping through the cracks on this one.

The idea is to have the power and the body equal, and leave it up to the team and driver to win a race.

Not so according to nascar
Robin Pemberton, NASCAR'* vice president of competition, said he disagrees with Harvick and Roush and that he has the test numbers to back him up. He said that NASCAR "doesn't deal in speculation" and pointed out that dynamometer tests on engines from all the manufacturers that run in the sport have consistently shown no significant difference in horsepower.

And

Dave Rodman
Even though Stewart wrecked his best car'* equal at the Las Vegas test, it was because of a faulty telemetry piece. No telemetry allowed on race weekends, so Smoke scores Toyota'* first Cup win this weekend.

NASCAR won't release the dyno results. Two insiders already reported Toyota'* power at 20-30hp more unrestricted.

Toyota is spending enough money in the garage that some people are trying very hard to look the other way.

Think of it this way:

If the rpm'* and gears are mandated, and the tires are the same, why do the Toyotas all of a sudden run up front this year? Includin Mr. I Can't Win (Michael Waltrip with only 4 career victories?

Because Waltrip is running Gibbs motors now. Last year they dyno'd the same, but he ran no better than he ever had before. Including the other Toyota drivers. But this year ALL Toyotas are qualifying and finishing FAR higher than they ever did before on average, including when they drove for other manufacturers.

The difference is the motor. Just watch. NASCAR will either limit the Toyotas, or allow the other 3 to free up some horsepower.

NASCAR approves the motors to try to keep the field equal. But politics in the sport dictate they'll ALLOW a Toyota to win first, then address the issue. There'* a history of this in the sport.

Maybe the others are just enjoying the race longer this year
