Cars in your family with high mileage
The 3800 is obviously one of the best engines ever but I was wondering about other cars with durable engines.
What are some high mileage cars in your family or was in the family?
Before My 89 Blazer got totaled it made it to 185,000 miles always reliable. It had the 4.3 V6
My Dads 82 Corolla made it to 130,000. He changed the oil every 5,000 miles, he didnt take too good care of it.
My Dads 94 Geo Metro with the 3 cyl is at 130,000 and never has a problem
My Bonneville is at 130,000 as well and I only had that UIM failure.
Everything else in my family is basically new.
Dont buy a Jetta

1992 Chevrolet Lumina 3.1L MPFI V6 made it to 321,xxx mi before we drove it to the junkyard
my jeep has 175k on it and it has only broken down once (bad pickup coil)
bonneville has 176k on it now and its on its second engine (first threw a rod/bearing from severe neglect from the old owner, ignorant pos *rant*) the engine has a high 150k on it now
my old 97 Mitsubishi mirage with the 1.5L 4G15 engine made it to 163k but it was burning oil to the extreme so we traded it in for the jeep ( i miss its 33+mpg )
there were others but i cant really remember them too well to say

Mom had a '92 Plymouth Voyager that had 249,500 miles on it when it was traded in (had a 5-speed too!)
Dad JUST traded in his '95 F-150 with approx. 190k on the clock.
Brother currently has a '94 Beretta with about 160k on it.
