Ok, I finally found a car after 2 weeks of searching. A '93 Buick Regal GS. It is a 2 door, burgundy, and has 110k on it. Since I already know the L27'* reliability, is there anything else I should lookout for on these particular cars? They are asking $700 for it, and it sounds like a steal. I am going to look at it tomorrow and hopefully come home with it, if everything jives of course. I will get pics of it and drive it real good and check everything out. Only problem it has, is it was lighty hit in the front, and has a broken headlight, and cracked fiberglass front clip, which is no big deal. He said there is minimal to no rust on the car, which sounds good. I will let you guys know tomorrow after 5:00 on how it went.

Don't waste your money. Your getting yourself into another money pit. Unless you absolutely need a car, save up a bit more for a car that is reliable and all in one piece.

This does not mean you have to buy a Bonneville, as there are plenty of reliable cars out there. Think about the long term before you pull the trigger. Again.

I used to have a '90 Regal GS. Very nice car except for th peeling paint and the stuck gas gauge. Held me til' I got the bonneville. If it runs good I'd say go for it!

Yeah I know a few people with L27 regals. They seem to be very reliable, and all I am hoping for is a clean, near rust free car that needs minimal work and is ready to drive.

Get your license, get a job, save up a few thousand, buy yourself a nice car.

I had a 93 regal custom, i ran mine to 214k miles, when i had an accident severely damaging the front end.

I garaged it because I couldn't find a front bumper cover or driver'* side fender- as every car in the JY'* around here had either severe front end damage or many minor dings/scrapes/rusted apart- making the part not worthe the 100$+ they were asking.

In all, it is a great car, and I would drive it again in a heartbeat, if only I could find the parts in decant condition, and not expensive as heck.

The main issue with them is from neglect on the part of the past owners. Look in the trunk for water too- every w-body i've owned has had a submerged spare tire. That and rusted out rear suspension parts/mounts. By the way, the rear plugs in the w-body cars are a pain in the @$$ to reach.

All being said, 700 seems a bit on the high side... especially with dront end damage. I would try to get it for 500, unless the car otherwise appears to be in excellent condition.

One final word of advice would be to check on pricing on the required parts before you purchase the car.

Another good thing to look at is the play in the front engine mount dogbones. If they have a lot of play, chances are you will be replacing them along with the lower mounts and probably a CV joint or 2. Dont ask me how i know this

my dad has a 91 GS coupe, its been a great car and its a joy to drive.
