Its weird.... hard o tell the difference... Full Rez you can see it though.
well i know where its going to really make a huge difference... when taking bright sunlight pics and Not well lit rooms and Meet pics.

Ever wonder why i haven't posted any NYBF 07 pics?
Took 500 or so... But like 50-75 are only good. A LOT of the dark and rainy days and the indoor ones came out like crap..

So im hoping this new camera will help that.


No tripod, No flash, Set on Auto for both.

I think the A520 did quite an admirable job there Bandit.

So... how did you get a $500 camera for $355 ???

the IS series cameras can take some really good pictures in manual mode.. Damn good for a non-SLR

Not going to be a huge difference, they both use the same size image sensor. I have the sd1000, and it'* no good at night shots either. iso800 and 1600 are no good either, way too much noise. The one sweet thing with the S5 IS is the 12x optical zoom, that will be great with getting pictures of animals from a distance. So far with sd1000, auto mode is nice, but playing around with manual does give you some control, not a lot more though.

Seriously, the brunt of the S5'* (and previous versions) price is for the large degree of zoom and not image quality. You'd also be hard pressed to tell a difference (save for blur prevented by the IS system) at 1024x768.

This is why my digital snapshot trooper remains the venerable PowerShot A75, however old it may be it still delivers. Stopping it down to f/5.6 in aperture priority mode improves sharpness and reduces chromatic abberrations (purple fringing), stopping it down all the way to f/8 only induces diffraction and f/2.8 is a soft and hairy mess of purple. That said, the S5 is not a bad camera, I just don't consider it to be "the next step down" from SLR bodies.
