A friend of mine, Derek, recently bought a 97ish Jeep Grand Cherokee after having his geo prizm totalled by a dumptruck hitting him @ 40 mph. He had no bumps, bruises, or any injuries, but the car was totalled lol.

We wanted to test out the 4wd, so I took him up in the mountains. I scouted for mud in the 88' Chevy Nova, since I knew the mountain better than he did, and he followed behind. We ended up only finding like three holes, and the one was so deep it probably would have flooded out the motor so we didn't even try it. The other two were water with mud/rocks, which made it really boring because ofcourse it drove right through it lol. Well after driving/scouting for about an hour, we decided to head back towards the original mud hole. My girlfriend, Derek, and his girlfriend were in the jeep, and I was in the Nova with another friend, Filip. We stopped and got a drink out of one of the natural springs, and decided to change up drivers. I let Filip drive the nova (which is actually really fun for what it is), and Derek let his GF, who lacked a drivers license, drive his Jeep. I wasn't too keen on the idea, but I knew she drove up in the mountains a lot with him and that it would probably be okay.

We drove a good 20 minutes on the way back to the first hole, and I spotted a huge mud hole on the right. I told filip to drive through it, and he did, and the nova pulled through no problem, as always. We continued about 300 ft before I noticed her stopping. Derek was egging his girlfriend on to go back and hit the mud puddle. She reversed, stopped, and stood for about 5 seconds. I told Filip to stop, that I wanted to see this. I saw the headlights on the Jeep lift, she must have full throttled it. Saw some mud fly, then all of the sudden I saw something very unusual. The headlights never really set back down. There was an uphill embankment on the right, and a downhill embankment on the left. I see the headlights then swerve left, then right, then left, then a SHARP ass right, and right up the uphill embankment that I couldn't even climb up. I saw the front wheels of the jeep come off the ground about a ft, then set back down, seemed to want to roll, then stabilized.

By this point I was like HOLY $HIT, and naturally ran to the aid of my gf. Got her out, got Derek's gf out, and then stood back to take a look. Here's what I saw:

At this point, everybody was OK, the driver obviously was shaken up and crying. My GF was just like wtf wtf wtf get me out LOL. So we're sitting here, 5 miles into the mountain, with an 88' Nova w/ a 1.6L Carb'd 74 HP motor that burns oil like a biatch, hesitates like a biatch, and is an automatic. By instinct, I grabbed a tow rope before we left. I found out I broke the tow rope when I blew up the rental buick a few months back and towed THAT back with the nova. I fell on my ass twice by the time I tied a knot in the damn rope capable of towing with by 'test pulling'.

The Jeep was bottomed out, front right, rear left tire was spinning, and as you can see by the picture, the ass end was literally sitting in a ditch. So I backed the Nova behind the Jeep, Hooked the tow rope up, and set myself and Filip (the two biggest guys there) on the left side of the Jeep to stop it from rolling IF the Nova wedged it free. My girlfriend was in the nova (shaking like a leaf), and Derek was in the Jeep (also, shaking like a leaf lol). Nova started backing up, and I actually saw the bumper cutting through the mud. I couldn't believe it. Nova was floored for a good 30 seconds, and was SMOKING like crazy, smelled like a diesel lol. I started rocking the Jeep, and next thing we knew, Nova yanked it right out right back onto the road. I was stunned and amazed lol.

Here's what it looked like:

I couldn't believe it. There was a scratch on the right side that I'll be buffing out, and I popped that dent in the rear bumper right out. Front bumper seems loose, but Derek said it was like that when he purchased the vehicle. I was AMAZED that first off the Jeep didn't roll after hitting that embankment at a good 20 mph, and then amazed at the fact that there was like NO damage. That was a hell of a nite, I was COVERED in mud lol.

So I am guessing that heather is never driving the jeep again?

Score one for FWD!
Hadto tow a flooded out little Cherokee out of a mud hole with an Aries once. A mudhole I had just gone through like cake...

That's the assumption lol. There's two heathers (My GF and Derek's GFs names are both heathers). So I didn't call names on that because that would just make it hella confusing lol.
