Default Freezing gas pumps?

Right now, our temp is -4*F. Wife just texted me...most of the gas pumps at her normal gas station are frozen to the point where they don't pump(according to the attendant). Ok, gas in its purest form, freezes around -58*F. So, that leads me to believe that gas station has A LOT of water in the gas. I've never heard of gas pumps freezing.

Impossible for water to freeze in the tanks. They are all underground here in NY. Anything below 6inches of soil won't freeze.

Well, that'* what the attendants were claiming over at the Kwik Fill on Madison Ave. Tanya says the line was half a block long waiting to get gas. I told her to stop getting gas there and goto Hess from now on. Cheap bastards are probably watering it down on purpose.

Just a wild guess but it'* possible that the pump filters have enough trapped water in them to freeze and impede flow. I'd wager if the station changed their pump filters=problem solved.

It in the pressure sensor at the nozzle that gets "frozen". It'* mechanical not ice related. Put the gas nozzle in your exhaust for a couple minutes. hehehe
