Sometimes I really hate other forums

As the topic says, other forums suck.

Yet another time, ive been publicly repremanded for simply trying to help a member of another forum by sending him here to find information! Freaking gay!

http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=692213

Instead of being all about helping people and providing information they choose to turn it into an "our forum is better than this forum" freakin pissing contest!

That site in particular has pissed me off several times, I have to send links to other members via PM most of the time in order to keep from getting flack. Ive suggested people hit up clubgp for their suspension issues in times past and gotten similar results. Gay I tell you...gay.

Sorry if Ive offended in homosexuals by my adjectivial use of the word "gay" I mean no harm I assure you.

Damemorder 05-02-2007 02:32 AM

It seems to be common on childish boards, Hence why I normally join long enough to get the info I need then never visit again, They're just not worth going to again.

Take the Chevette boards, They didn't know that the Chevette and Fiero shared the front suspension '83 - '87. I had the car for less than a month and figured it out. Of course when I told them that they flat out said no, And locked the topic when I started to hold their hand through the dimensions. I know where they can stick it, I'll keep my poly front end to myself then, No use letting them know how I tuned my susp then.

ReallyAGXP 05-02-2007 07:11 AM

I have never came across that mod there mostly Merlin... but i think you basically told him there. lol

J. Pierpont Finch 05-02-2007 08:56 AM

This is as good a place as any to say:

THANK YOU BC MODS/ADMINS/OWNER.

I've been on this here net thingy for quite awhile (since it was arpanet and I accessed it on an aircraft carrier).

You all run this forum better than ANY forum, bar none, that I have ever run across.

And to the members as well, who do everything they can to help, as quickly as possible.

The quality of this community/forum is beyond words.

Jim W 05-02-2007 09:10 AM

automotiveforums is way to big of a site. It was the reason why I co-founded ACNA for the Aurora crowd.

myfirstbonnie 05-02-2007 09:19 AM

That's the experience I have had also. Look for information and someone else edits what they don't want you to see. .......................................I love BC!

agrazela 05-02-2007 10:39 AM

Yeah, this forum's OK, but I really like ***EDITED BY MODERATORS***

(Just kidding!!! )

Yeah I saw your post Jr. I didnt know that I was in error about the exploding intake thing, I went and edited my other post about that.

As for the rest of it, I posted again about the same time you did. It wouldnt surprise me if I end up getting banned from that forum. But Im not going to take that crap.

LittleHoov 05-02-2007 03:45 PM

Went over to AF aaaaand:

You have been banned for the following reason:
Advertising/Promoting other Auto Forum, Ranting and Inappropriate Conduct, Challenging Moderator and Inciting Other Members from AF and Other Auto Forum

Date the ban will be lifted: 05-16-2007, 02:00 PM

Whoooooooops.

banned3800 05-02-2007 03:45 PM

Inciting Other Members from AF and Other Auto Forum

I think they might know you are? Or something like that. Thats the only thing I can think of for that being included in my ban notice.

banned3800 05-02-2007 03:55 PM

You didn't even tell me S***...

What is with them?

They can ban me too for all I care... I have been a member there for years.. Notice I don't post over there much?

Hmmmm I wonder why...

Looks like they don't like trying to help people, and keep them from impending doom...

That would annoy the hell out of me, someone constantly editing my words and abusing their moderator powers. That's why I like this place so much. 8)

I would not want that guy running the United States...freedom of speech would be destroyed

Bonneville92V688 05-02-2007 04:02 PM

I hate shitty sites like that. Half the people there have little no experience with cars, and most responses are stupid and incoherent. I asked about a Plymouth laser there one time, only answer I got was "put a big 3" muffler on and a CAI, it will gain you 20-30hp" I wasn't even asking about that! I was asking about a purge solenoid for vacuum lines!

banned3800 05-02-2007 04:03 PM

If that guy really paid attention other than my Screen Name he would have noticed that I have been a member over there longer than he has been there.. LMAO

I noticed that someone else with the name of Monster_Impala posted with the phrase "as my fellow BonnevillClub members have said" ....thats probably he got the idea I was inciting other forums. Ridiculous if you ask me, but whatever.

I wish there was a good place for the Intrigue, but there arent all that many active members of the Intrigue boards there, mostly just first timers who come to get an answer then leave.

BonnevilleLErocks 05-02-2007 04:17 PM

I say we all car pool over to that guys house and beat the crap out of him and we make him sleep with the fishes 8) The bonneville's large trunk will come in handy

j/k

LittleHoov 05-02-2007 04:22 PM

haha, sleep with the fishes eh? Good stuff.
Im not really mad, I just think its ridiculous that helping people seems to take a back burner over there.

I think "getting back" will come in time, take a look at his sig:

'01 Buick Regal GS - Series II 3800 V6 Supercharged
'99 Buick Regal LS - Series II 3800 V6
'02 Oldsmobile Alero GL2 - 3400 SFI V6
'03 Honda CR250R MX - 2 Stroke 250cc
'97 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP - Series II 3800 V6 Supercharged

Anyone know how to make a manifold-gasket voodoo doll by chance?
Quadruple manifold gasket failure sounds fun!

I guess he can ride the Honda around though.

banned3800 05-02-2007 04:43 PM

Lets go for Rod bearings... Forget about the gaskets... Let him Pop several L36 Longblocks before he figures out the gaskets and upper intake suck...

I have been reading and posting over there...

The sad thing is this... We have learned Soooooooooooooo Much in the short time we have been here... The info we have is amazing compared to most.... They have almost nothing and their posts really don't help at all..

I better not post over there. My sig has a link to here....

Good thing I was never impressed with that place....

No that was me and if I got you banned I'm sorry... But all I was trying to do was bring up the fact that its a large problem and like you said didnt stop in 98

LittleHoov 05-02-2007 05:02 PM

ReallyAGXP, dont worry about it bud, I dont think you had anything to do with it, and honestly its not a big deal to me. Its only for a couple weeks, and from now on Ill just have to give out information via PM. Im not going to stop helping people. and Im not going to stop providing them with accurate information that Ive personally found helpful.

Rod bearings would be fun too, but hes only got one L36. Every car he has is prone to gasket failure of some sort.

Yes there is a wealth of information here, easily accessible, very well organized, and easy to find.

They kept saying there were the same resources there, but I never found them and all that particular moderator kept doing was linking me to the search feature. What good are your "resources" if you have to search through a couple dozen posts just to find something thats already prepared somewhere else?

ReallyAGXP 05-02-2007 05:14 PM

agreed..

like I said We never had problems like that in the W-body section like that. one of the members from www.naioa.com use to have that in his sig and Merlin never said anything.

ga93sle 05-02-2007 05:25 PM

That's probably the dumbest thing I've noticed about other forums, the fact that you can't advertise another forum. Like around here, I've noticed people linking other people to Fiero forums numerous times. If anything, I think the mods and admins around here kinda encourage it since we're focused on the 3800. Anyway, that's just one of the reasons I love this forum. I'm on probably 10 other forums, and this is the only one I still post on.

Peterg22000 05-02-2007 05:27 PM

acctually there was another member that steped in and said we was from the bonneville club, so i dont think he was looking at screen names

ReallyAGXP 05-02-2007 06:13 PM

I find the lack of moderation there to be horrendous.. they let people flame and rant to others and basically go way off topic with things. I pretty much stopped posting there 2 years ago Oh and I have been a member since before 05 more like 03. But like i have mentioned a select few of the Moderators there are ok just the rest of them really blow it up.

I have never seen it where you are not encouraged to post other links especially if you know the answer is there. But again this could be due to the fact that it is a commercial forum paid by ad's and sponsorship. They want to keep the member count high as to keep there cash flow coming in.

My hat is off to the Admin/Mod team at www.BonnevilleClub.com. Have a Coors Light on me

myfirstbonnie 05-07-2007 09:13 AM

$0.25 a can?......................................do ya have to be an admin\mod?

Grimm 05-07-2007 12:43 PM

That's stupid. The only reason I can see not linking to another site is if it is a business with a forum where you don't want people getting sent to another business. Autogeek.net is this way. You can post about products they don't sell all you want so long as you don't link to a competitor site.
