This just happened trying to get my car out of the garage...any ideas the best way to fix it is?

tore the bolts right out, your door may be un balanced, pound out the bracket or put some type of spacer back in its place, also use new bolts just make sure they dont go through the entire door

Tough spot as well. you will need some kind of galvi aluminium bracket straps. Im thinking of the type they use for decking in the wood dept at Home Depot. to attach to it
and maybe rivet them together.
short term fix though.

ok the house is a rental...should the landlord be responsible for it...the garage door motor was manfactured in 1978 btw
