Default does she have a chance? dealer issue plus rust.

my fiance recently noticed a rust spot on the inside of the door frame, at the top. now, shes driving a 2004 Nissan Altima, bought new from the dealership, and its got 22k miles on it. well under warranty. i told her to take it in and make them fix it.

well, she took it in today and they told her that the rust was the result of someone trying to break into the car, and as such, wasnt covered under warranty. their evidence being a slight bend in the weatherstripping near the rust spot.

i believe them and so does she. cars around here have been broken in to lately, so thats all too believable. but thats not the point.

their theory doesnt mean thats what happened. i told her she should go back and insist they fix it because she thinks that its shoddy worksmanship and they should do it to retain a satisfied customer.

does she have a shot at getting them to fix it or should we just fix the rust?

and if we should fix it, whats the proper procedure to fix the rust spot? i have a pretty good suspicion as ive done it on older cars, but you guys know more than i do about stuff.

IMO her chance of getting them to fix it is not looking good. Your best bet is to just fix it and be done with it.
I don't know about how to fix it other than sand, primer and paint. I'm sure the guys with the knowledge will pipe in soon.

It'* not your job to prove your case, it'* their job to prove you wrong. Don't bend for them, or put yourself in a defensive position.

Got any pix?

Better call Daniel and Conway....err maybe just Conway these days...

Or how about David Garrett, he can turn this wreck into this check!

Seriously, I don't know, I always regard dealerships as dishonest and have yet to win a battle with them. Of course I never lawyered up either.
