You hit the nail on the head. There's no demand for "old people" cars on ebay. So, the bidding never reaches what you could sell it FSBO. Similiar Mercury GMs were only ending at ~$3000 on ebay. Sold it locally for $4500.

the kid is coming down with this parents again around 4pm today. They plan on buying it. They talked to their attorney as far as how the transaction should go down. They are going to write a personal check, take the car, and then I will deposit the check on Monday and get the bank to get the lien paid off and mailed out. Sound legit to everyone?

I still have no idea what figure they are going to throw at me, but I don't expect a low one since they know the out of state lady also wants it.

just me, but i wouldn't take a personal check. i had an uncle screwed on it once. maybe if the bank is open take them to the bank with you so you can deposit it and see that there is no problem... but for me its cash or a check from a bank...

willwren Dec 15, 2007 02:59 PM

No personal check. Period. Money order or cash only.

Tell 'em to take a hike.

harofreak00 Dec 15, 2007 03:00 PM

the bank is not open. the reason we can't do cash is it is not safe for them as far as the lien release.

Darrel Dec 15, 2007 03:17 PM

i see your point about the lien release, but how is a personal check any different? couldn't you just cash it and spend as you please just as cash?

I'm with willwren on this one though.

harofreak00 Dec 15, 2007 03:23 PM

they are writing the check to the bank directly. regardless, I asked for money order.

Hans Dec 15, 2007 03:28 PM
