A deal? Well, penny for penny value, probably not. You would need to get at least 789 pennies to come out ahead. I think a roll (50 pennies) is atleast 1/8 pound.

In a collectors sense though, I don't know how much wheat pennies are worth these days. Maybe a cent and a half

I have a 1917 (I think) Wheatie penny that turned up in my change.

Also have a couple more wheaties, one from the 1946, the other(s) I forget.

Needless to say, I keep all the wheaties I come upon... or basically any coin pre-1960ish.

Not sure check w/ a coin dealer or a collector book.

My dad was a collector and I've got one of the 1909's

It's nice to see other people interested in coins on here. I just inherited a 1916-D Mercury dime. It came with about 50 others all mixed together. I sorted them and found that one. It's worth about $600! As for those two wheaties, chances are they are worth between $0.10 and $1.50 apiece (depending on condition.)
