Default Tad 'O 'puter help?

Router with PC and laptop connected. Internet works great from both, and I can VNC back and forth. Win ME on the puter, XP Pro on the laptop. I have my C and D drives on the Puter shared (PC named "Home"), drives are shared simply as C and D, yet I can't map them from the laptop?

I've done this hundreds of times, and yes, MS printer and file sharing is loaded.

I'm wondering if it has to do with ME. My uncle was in the same situation, sharing drives on ME and trying to access them from an XP machine. I have yet to figure that one out.

Sorry, I don't have too much advice. I'm wondering about this as well.

Anytime I've done networking in the past between my Windows 2000 Pro and Windows 98 it has made me setup identical user profiles. The login name and password has to be the same on both computers for it to work. This probably isn't the case with yours, but that is the problem I've had in the past.

can your laptop see that your puter even exists? are you using a switch, router, or hub? hub should be the answer. i use a router, with wireless networking. both laptops along with 1 computer access the net via wireless, and another computer wired to the router directly. wll work fine, but just cant see each other at all. still cant figure it out.

are they in the same workgroup? make sure that the laptop and computer are both in something like mshome. You can make it whatever you want, like willwren or whatever, just make sure both are in the same workgroup.
