Snowboard Bonnie Meet

I love to board. I bought an '05 Never Summer TITAN this year and have only got a few runs on it. Anyone in my area board? Boarding alone stinks. I've done it before. I have a few friends around here that board, but we would like to get a slightly bigger group to board with. Anyone? Anybody have any way of getting tickets to Steamboat or similar cheaper than standard market value? Just getting ancy for some snow so I can board again.

I switch between boarding and skiing depending on what I want to do for the year, but I would be interested in doing something like that.

Mr Bean 11-01-2005 04:37 PM

nice. we gotta get a date and a group. maybe when we have some serious snow i'll ask a mod to make a sticky for us. i just said hi to you in the chat...and you zipped out!?

willwren 11-01-2005 06:13 PM

Count me in. I have a 156cm Morrow Revert. I'm usually the oldest fart on Mt. Hood, and usually scare the hell out of the punks. They think I'm nuts when I tree surf.

Peterg22000 11-01-2005 07:12 PM

ive skied before...but the only skis i use these days come with a motor and track attached ;)

( Ride Hard!!!, Ride Fast!!! )

Mr Bean 11-01-2005 07:44 PM

The local hill here is famous for virgin powder and long runs.

I LOVE Jackson Hole. My first day there I took the tram to the top!

I've been to Jackson Hole for 2 seperate long weekends. I LOVED it both times. Makes most other ski resorts feel like skiing on the great planes.

Hans 11-02-2005 01:13 AM

I'm about 2 hours from jackson, 45 minutes from Sun Valley, Couple hours from Park City. Idaho is not a bad place to be in the winter.

ditto

sounds good to me. for all your skiers that are slightly interested in boarding...i can tell you if you dedicate 3 full days (i spent three 8-9 hours days) to biffing, and getting up, and biffing again....and a very sore hind end...then you can board. it took me and my best friend three days...now we are exploring a little air. i'll never be into the terrain parks or anything. my board is strictly for freeride..and it's the fastest freeride board out there. i have been boarding only one season and i have blown by guys boarding for 5 years. and will, you have GOT to demo a neversummer board. you will be in love immediately...i promise! click this link to get demo locations. i have a good relationship with tony, who is one of the workers at the neversummer plant in colorado...my first TITAN had a small defect...he sent me a brand new board! check it out bill....really.

bill,

just to convince you more:

"NeverSummer Titan
In the first season of production the Titan established itself as one of the fastest selling high end boards on the market. Before the first resort even opened, Never Summer was completely sold out! The Titan rides smoother, responds quicker and turns faster than any freeride board you have ever ridden. Exclusive laminates, base material, damping system and shape make the Titan the choice for those who want to experience the ultimate Never Summer snowboard. NS will be limiting production on the Titan again this year and all of the models will be numbered."

The Morrow Brothers live about 20 minutes north of me. ;)

Mine is the revert:
https://i17.ebayimg.com/03/i/05/4e/5f/35_1.JPG
But my graphics are slightly different. I also have a 10° wedge under the rear binding for power turns at 80mph+ ;)

On the slopes, I wear black and only black. Don't know why, it's just a tradition that started some time ago. On the really bitter days, I'll wear my shorty waterskiing wetsuit underneath. Toasty warm.

I board primarily on Mt Hood at Timberline. The Magic Mile is a quad-express chair above the treeline. So you get an unobstucted mile down the mountain with no trees to build up speed, then as you enter the treeline, you can go surfing at breakneck speeds all the way to the bottom of the lower runs.

http://www.skitimberlinelodge.com/mo...s/trailmap.png
Timberline is one of the few places in the US with year-round skiing. The Glacier is groomed all year, and the US ski team trains up there on the Palmer run in the summer.
In the winter, the Palmer lift isn't even VISIBLE buried under winter snow. That's the uppermost lift in that map, with the Magic Mile being the second one down from the top. You can board for a LONG time before you have to catch another lift.

"The Shining" was filmed at Timberline Lodge. REDRUM

I've got some old boarding pics around somewhere. I'll dig 'em out and scan. I used to go up every weekend with a couple girls from work (taught both to board). Drove my 89 Cutlas Calais Quad4 (5-speed) with all-season tires up there every weekend with no chains or studs.

One of the girls, Karmen, was so light, I could help her off the lift when she was learning by holding her up by the back of her collar.
